Starting private label home textiles: the process, MOQs and costs

Your own home-textile brand starts with an idea that you work out. After that it comes down to which factory can make it, from what quantities, and how long it takes. Below is the route, step by step.

How does the private-label process work, from design to delivery?

You work out the idea, then we discuss it and look for a suitable factory. What decides that choice are your requirements: fabrics, colours, quantities and lead time. Next we have a sample made. Whether that carries a cost depends on the manufacturer. Production only starts once you have approved that sample.

How long does it take from sample approval to delivery?

For countries such as China and India, count on three months of production plus roughly a month at sea. With European manufacturers it is four to six weeks after sample approval. That difference decides whether you plan a season ahead or can still adjust within a season.

What is the minimum order quantity (MOQ) for private label bedding or towels?

There is no fixed number. The minimum order quantity depends on the product, the manufacturer and the region. Small orders are often possible, so it is a question per item.

What does a sample cost?

Sample costs are quoted up front, so you know the cost before the sample is made. They are usually offset against your first order.

Can I put my own label and packaging on existing collections?

Yes. Your own label on an existing model is possible, and so is a fully bespoke design. Which one suits your case depends on the product and on the factory making it. Both are open to discussion.
